As an individual you have made the decision that you really want to become healthier than you currently are. This is a really big decision. Now you just have to find a way to accomplish this goal. Well, you may already know that aerobic exercises are a wonderful way of becoming fitter and healthier fast. Just like, you probably already know that all of the regular aerobic classes will help you to maintain your weight loss and remain trimmer. However, one thing that you may not know is that by taking the time to join some aerobic classes, you are more than likely going to receive a lot more benefits than you would if you were performing all of the aerobic exercises on your own. However, you have to remember that any exercise is much better than no exercise period.

In the event that you choose to participate in aerobics classes, you are going to have an instructor. During this time, you will be taught everything that you need to know about aerobics and what aerobics are able to do for you, as well as how they work and why they are considered to be so important. The instructor is going to teach you all of the fundamental aerobic types that you are going to need to be participating in, in order to target all of the specific areas of your body. Having an instructor even for a short time is a great way to get started on the right track. The instructor is experienced at knowing how much and how often when it comes to exercise and will take you at a pace that works for you.

Did you also know there are many different types of aerobics. Have you ever heard of brain aerobics or mind aerobics. There are specific exercises which will assist your brain in functioning much better. There are also aerobic exercises which help specific health conditions such as osteoporosis or arthritis. You probably thought that the only benefits of aerobics are weight loss and toning your body. There are also water aerobics which do not stress the body as much and are a great choice for those who feel normal aerobics are a little too difficult. There are also sexual aerobics that you can learn as well.

One of the other benefits of aerobics classes is that you are going to be provided with incentive and motivation from the instructor. You will find that the toughest part of participating in any type of exercise is the ability to actually do it, whether it is riding your bike or jogging. By taking the time to join an aerobics class, you will be scheduling all of your exercise in advance so you are able to mark all of your class on the calendar.

For more information about the different types of aerobics referred to in this article attend at Holly Crosgrey’s website entitled Aerobics. You would be amazed at the different types there are and how much fun you will find them.

Music is a wonderful way to energize the body through aerobic workout. An aerobics music workout is a great exercise program if you love music. There are a number of different types of aerobic exercises that work well with the addition of music. Any physical activity that is continuous motion will be termed as being aerobic. Adding music to your aerobic routine can increases the intensity level. But there are advantages to adding music .An aerobics routine consisting of aerobic music will involve a great deal of fast movements, jumping as well as leaping for extended periods. Some benefits of adding music to your workout include the focus, motivation and beneficial exercise.

Focus

Adding music to your aerobics workout adds the benefit of allowing you to focus on something other than the exercise regimen. You focus on the enjoyment of the music. This focus also pushes out the day’s activities and allows you to be in the moment.

Motivation

A person who is involved in an activity that is enjoyable and is beneficial will want to continue that activity. The reverse is also true. If an action is rewarded with a negative feeling or experience, that action or experience is not repeated. Therefore, if a person does not like to exercise, but combines the pleasure of music with exercise, they are more likely to continue.

Beneficial Exercise

The major benefit of adding aerobics music to your workout is the cardiovascular workout you receive. A good music workout will stimulate the heart, increase the blood flow and your breaths. Other benefits are the possibility of weight loss and weight maintenance.

It is important to remember that each of us is different. Those different factors include our age, general health and the condition of our body. Therefore, the heart beat that you wish to attain during your aerobic workout will vary.

Variety of Music

There is nothing as exciting as aerobic exercising to the tune of your favorite music. The variety to choose from includes top 40/dance to disco to Broadway hits. Some of these aerobics music albums feature perfect 32 count and offer variety to suit the musical tastes of everyone and all age groups. It should be noted that the speed of aerobic music should be between 118 to 122 Beats Per Minute.

Also, the genre of music selected can be a highly motivational factor. Generally aerobics workout music designed to give a full workout. It begins with a slower tempo to allow the body to warm up. The next stage is generally more upbeat and provides a quicker moves. The final phase is a cool down where the music returns to a slower paced tempo.

There is also another well known aerobics workout known as Jazzercise. The instructor teaches the exercise steps as well as choreographed routines that help the exerciser in his or her quest for better fitness accompanied by aerobic music.

Choreographed Videos

There are many different maneuvers in aerobics for any one person to complete them. There are notations, floor maneuvers, step maneuvers as well as a combination of floor or step maneuvers. You can find different videos and DVDs that are sure to satisfy your needs. The varieties include Step Showdown that lasts for 120 minutes. It is a type of step aerobics and dance combined, using choreographed music.

Another, Aerobic & Dance Showdown is another aerobics video that lasts 140 minutes presenting aerobic and dance choreography accompanied by hot music. It includes low impact aerobics mix. Dance Off video is packed with choreographed steps.

Non-traditional videos include Latin and Jazz infuse a passion in the moves. Aerobics exercisers enjoy them for increasing movements and learning new dance styles. Using choreographed aerobics music videos are useful for beginners with little or no experience as well as intermediate and advanced level users.

Sometimes, there is nothing to beat entering a gym where the fitness class is working out with aerobic music. It helps set the mood for the exercisers. It’s impossible to imagine a step or spinning class without the correct music to provide the right rhythm. Adding music to your aerobic workout is a fun experience, gives you motivation to continue and offers healthy benefits.

Pilates was originally invented by a German national called Joseph Pilates. During World War I, Joseph Pilates was sent to a detention centre and interned for the crime of being an ‘alien enemy’. It was during his forced imprisonment that he was motivated to create a series of exercises that were low in intensity and resistance. The inspiration for his first piece of Pilates equipment came from the springs used in hospital beds. After the war he immigrated to America and continued to promote his unique exercise techniques by opening an established where the Pilates methods were taught and practised. The popularity of Pilates gradually increased and so came the onset of the video age and enabled many devotees to practise the Pilates techniques from following a video dedicated to this type of exercise.

Like many other exercise videos those dedicated to Pilates enjoyed a great deal of success. The reason behind this is that one could use their Pilates video to practises their exercises everywhere as long as they had access to a video player. For those who feel the need to exercise but dislike the inconvenience of going to a gym, the idea of being able to practise Pilates at home was and still is, very appealing

However convenient this method of exercising is, there is a major drawback, and that is the absence of a professional instructor. The the Pilates method is quite well demonstrated on the video or DVD by your virtual tutor it can never fully replace the presence of a fully trained Pilates teacher being on hand. Pilates can be somewhat complicated to the uninitiated and if you perform a movement incorrectly it is possible to sustain an injury. This is why it is advisable to be taught by an instructor is trained to ensure that the techniques of Pilates are carried out in the safest possible way.

Before embarking on any form of exercise, particularly Pilates, it is always advisable to take instruction from a qualified professional who will acquaint you with the basic movements before you attempt to any of the groups of exercises on your own.

One extremely effective type of Pilates that boasts fast results is Winsor Pilates. This method has some variations to the original Pilates method and was created by Mari Winsor. By practising Winsor Pilates three times a week it is claimed that positve effects will be noticeable after two weeks.

Winsor Pilates videos can be used for the practise of this method outside a gym and anywhere suitable for the user. Like other Pilates videos it has the advantage of being of benefit for those who wish to practise these techniques at home. Finding time to exercise is not easy whether at home or in a gym. However, from the many testimonials, one person who used a Winsor Pilates video at irregular intervals over a two year period, claims that his abdominals, pelvis and lower back muscles, the core muscles, were actually stronger, though he did not notice any reduction in weight. So it is possible to maintain a healthy core by exercising with Winsor Pilates even if not the prescribed three times a week!

One other advantage to exercising with a Pilates video is that you can become very familiar with the positions, methods, and sequences of exercises that the video almost becomes redundant. And apart from all the other benefits of the Pilates video, there is the fact that it is an economical way to exercise. Regular subscriptions to a gym or studio can be costly and there are often added costs. With a Pilates video you don’t require anything else except yourself to achieve your goals.

There are limitations, though, from using a Pilates video, and that is because they are usually geared to low impact and intensity exercises. If you prefer something that will really challenge you then this type of exercise is not suitable for you in the long term.

Pilates is the exercise of choice for dancers, gymnasts, and a host of famous Hollywood celebrities, and now it finds itself firmly entrenched in the mainstream. So why is pilates so hot?

Pilates incredible popularity can be traced to the fact that it provides its faithful practitioners with benefits that you simply can’t get through traditional aerobics/strength training format.

1. Makes You into Muscle Man

If want a long, lean look without bulky muscles, but with all the strength. Would you like to build strength and endurance without getting the muscle man look? If so, pilates may be just what you have been searching for.

There’s a reason that pilates is the exercise of choice for gymnasts and professional dancers. Most conventional workouts tend to create bulky muscle. Why is this? In most workouts, the emphasis is placed on repetition and building strong muscles.

This causes already-strong (think: big) muscles to get even strong, and thus bigger. Pilates does not rely on frequent repetition, and thus no overgrown muscles. Pilates focuses on the whole body, not just on sections of muscles.

2. Increases the Strength of Stabilizer Muscles

There are many benefits that one can achieve through a proper use of the pilates program. One of the most significant points of the pilates program is it’s ability to increase the strength of stabilizer muscles that may not commonly be worked out in a standard exercise program.

Also, since pilates stresses the use of graceful and fluid movements, it can be a great way to get a better sense of the kinesthetics of your body. The sense of body that you can achieve through pilates is quite significant, and many find that they are better able to balance themselves regardless of the position that they are in.

3. A Mind-Body Workout That Strengthens Your Whole Body

Another one of the benefits of Pilates is that it engages the mind and enhances body awareness. Like yoga, tai chi, and Asian martial arts, Pilates is not just a workout for your body. Joseph H. Pilates studied yoga, martial arts, and other ancient mind-body activities and included a strong philosophical foundation into the practice of Pilates.

Pilates not only helps tone your body, but your mind and spirit as well. The smooth, precise and flowing movements of Pilates are designed to make you more mindful of your body.

Breath movement is also emphasized to put you in touch with how breath moves through your body. Pilates has been demonstrated to reduce stress, anxiety, and helps lift depression. The mind-body connection is fundamental to the study and practice of pilates.

4. Pilates Strengthens Your Core like No Other Exercise

Another one of the benefits of Pilates is that the increased amount of strength that one can achieve in the ‘core’ of the body. The term core refers to the muscles in and around the area of the abdominal muscles and the back.

Proper breathing control is also stressed in pilates, adding to the numerous list of benefits that one can attain through regular use of the exercise program.

5. Prevents You from Future Injuries

Pilates strengthens your body and helps prevent future injuries. Pilates helps to condition the whole body, not just certain muscles. This helps balance the muscle and strength of the body. Since no set of muscles is ever over or under trained, there is less risk for injury. The body becomes more fluid and supple, protecting against injury.

6. Helps You Become Efficient With Your Body

Last, but not the least one of the benefits of Pilates is that it teaches you how to become efficient with your body. Very few exercises can help your body become more efficient in its movement.

Why is efficiency so important? Being efficient means that your body moves in a way, that is smoother, safer, and less prone to injury. By practicing pilates on a regular basis, you can train your body more to move in a much safer and more efficient manner.

Benefits of Pilates for Older Adults

The benefits of pilates have been particularly noted in older adults. Older adults are more likely to suffer from symptoms of arthritis, including stiff and painful joints. Pilates practice has also been lauded for its ability to help prevent injury.

Even adults undergoing serious rehabilitation therapy can use Pilates to increase their range of motion and overall muscle strength. But is Pilates safe for all adults? Who should avoid participating in a Pilates program, and who is more likely to benefit from the program?

Consult your medical professional if you have any doubts about your pilates program. If you are suffering from severe degeneration or physical pain, you should take extra care before beginning a pilates program.

You should never feel pain while practicing pilates. If you do, you know that there is something wrong. Don’t be afraid to pull back if you feel overwhelmed.

Pilates was designed to progress naturally from one movement to another. If you feel stopped at one movement, don’t give up. Start at the beginning and work your way back to the areas you found most challenging.
