You have no knowledge about human anatoy whatsoever. Chinups engage lats even more than wide pullups which engage more upper portion of the lats, teres muscles and rear delts.

  • Ataro104 says:

Chinups do biceps and chest, pullups do lats. pullups are when your palms are away from you and your arms are generally spaced further apart. chinups have your palms facing in, the closer your hands are together, the more it engages your biceps.

Both do engage biceps, but pullups primarily do lats.

  • Ataro104 says:

pullups are the best place to start for lats. pulldowns are for really increasing the weight your lats are handling.

  • bigdannyg23 says:

pull ups are much better than these lat pulldowns, you will develop better lats and back in general.people don’t like doing them becauase they are hard to do!!!if you have a wide grip ,hands facing away and concentrate on getting a full stretch by keeping it nice and slow you will definitely benefit!it may take a while before you can do 10 reps but have patience.normally on a back day i warm up with pulldowns then hit the pullps!let me know how you go!

  • nunchaku1986 says:

no.wide grip chins with hands facing away from you would work the lats and biceps

  • biodata says:

nope. pull ups i think concentrates on the chest and arms not lats.

  • germanyowns says:

    u have small lats

  • wellsm3 says:

    1. Arching your back is not a good idea. If you start to hit the heavy weights you could injure your back that way. 2. Too wide of a grip puts too much stress on your biceps. If your stressing your shoulders too much your doing something else wrong, but ive never felt any stress in my shoulders from a wide grip. 3. You will not see the same results if you pull down slowly. The back responds best to powerful movements and a good contraction at the end
